Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana 4 (CELI 4)
The Certification Unit of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia has developed The CELI examination system, which tests the knowledge of learners of Italian as a foreign language.
Structure
- Reading: four-option multiple-choice, matching, open-ended questions as well as specific details and summarizing parts of texts
- Writing: a composition on a topic requiring a response (letter, fax, report)
- Listening: understanding specific details and making conclusions regarding the text. There are three texts lasting 20 minutes each with a total of approximately 30 items
- Speaking: supporting opinions, explaining in detail, hypothesis and feelings expression
- Structural competence: completing a number of tasks, which are based on the use of structure and speech, fill in the blanks, proof-reading and expanding a set of notes or abbreviations into a complete script
Results
The speaking component carries 30% of the total marks, writing 25%, reading 20%, listening 15% and structural competence 10%.There are three passing grades: A, B and C.
