Certificado Superior de Español de las Ciencias de la Salud
This certificate serves as proof of basic knowledge of the Spanish language specifically related to healthcare (ambulance, patient support). Candidates should have reached the level of grammar knowledge corresponding to the avanzado level of the Instituto Cervantes curriculum before taking the examination. Participants should be able to understand situations in everyday life and the healthcare industry (institutions, internal medicine, surgery, handling patients, etc.). They should be able to search for, or pass on, information related to medical topics as well as write typical medical texts (reports, letters of complaint, etc.) and complete clinical documents (patient records, investigation reports, diagnoses, findings, etc.).
Structure
Written expression:
- Reading comprehension; 20 points (40 minutes)
- Specific language proficiency; 20 points (40 minutes)
- Creation of texts; 30 points (55 minutes)
Oral expression:
- Oral examination; 20 points (15 minutes)
Results
The exam has a total of 90 points. In order to pass the exam, the candidates must have at least 45 points including 35 points from the written exam and 10 points from the oral exam. A candidate can fail the exam if they receive zero points in one of the test sections. Anyone who fails the written examination has no chance to take the verbal examination. No documents or dictionaries may be used during the examination. A candidate can also fail the exam if the answers are given in illegible handwriting.
